How to create Bootable Recovery is Possible (RIP) USB?

This article will demonstrate how to create a bootable usb for Linux distro named Recovery Is Possible (RIP). I will add another article on this particular distro (I believe there is plenty of them online). There is a lot of different ways to do this. But I am writing the easy way and it works for both Windows and Linux.

How to prepare:

You will need the following:

1. A computer which supports USB Boot (most of them does).

2. A USB drive (At least 150 MB)

3. Downloaded Recovery Is Possible ISO from http://rip.7bf.de/current/

4. Downloaded UNetbootin from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

If you have all of them ready, you are good to go!

Step-To-Step:

First Step: Run your UNetbootin.

Second Step: Select “Disk Image:” as “ISO” and choose the iso file you have downloaded.

Third Step: On the Type section, choose “USB Drive” and select your drive.

Fourth Step: Press “OK”. [Note: You don't have to change anything else]

Fifth Step: Once it is done, you will see two options Reboot or Exit. Select exit.

Now What?

Now your bootable USB is ready. How to use that?

1. Connect it to the pc you want to boot from.

2. Press the boot select button. (For acer, it is F12)

3. It will say, it could not find the kernel (menu.c32). It is just renamed in this usb. So, type the following and press enter:

1
/vesamenu.c32

4. Now you will see the boot options. However, none of them will work. How to make them work? Select any option and press tab button. It will show you the command which was to run. Move your cursor to the beginning and add the following:

1
/boot/

If you are running memtest86, you will see you have “memtest”. The new version will look like the following:

1
/boot/memtest

So! That is it! You can enjoy any linux distro with this using the same procedure. Only after first step, you can choose the distro and version. That will save you from the hassle I have given above. :P Enjoy! :)
