Freshman Fifteen: Myth or Fact?
There can be a lot of myths on “freshman fifteen”. Those who are not familiar with the term, it refers to a claim that an average freshman student in North America gains 15 pounds. Top five reasons are said to be:
1) Excessive drinking (alcohol)
2) Pizzaaaaaa
3) Buffet
4) Lack of good sleep and
5) No exercise.
I don’t know about others, but I truly gained 5 pounds in my first semester. But I lost them all.
However, a research conducted by University of Guelph shows that an average freshman loses weight.
Regardless of what is true, you can always check your weight and find which direcion you are going. There are a lot of help and resources available online.
